| Capt.W. B. Kitchen |
Capt. W. B. Kitchen was born in Manchester, England, in 1867, and came to Canada with his parents in 1873. His father, Mr. D. Kitchen, was in the employ of the Midland Railway for a number of years, and his uncle, Mr. C. H. Croft, was manager of the stores department of the same company in Peterboro. There the captain received a good Public School education. About the year 1880 he began sailing as cabin boy on the steamer Wiarton Belle, engaged in the north shore trade. From that time on he has been in a number of vessels.
In 1891 he obtained his master's certificate, and since then he has been engaged in the tourist trade. Capt. Kitchen was married to Miss Davis, daughter of Mr. W. H. Davis, of Midland, Ont., in 1888. They have two sons and one daughter. No disasters worth speaking about have happened to the captain.
