Collingwood Shipyards' Hull 224, the Algoma Central self-unloader due to be launched on October 21, will apparently be named JOHN B. AIRD for the Toronto lawyer and former Algoma board chairman who is now Ontario's Lieutenand [sic] Governor. The name is appropriate but a departure from the "ALGO" series.

The dredge DODGE ISLAND, deepening the Genesee River at Rochester, was forced to suspend work in late August when she stirred up bacteria-laden sewage and caused the closing of local bathing beaches.
