It is with regret that we must report the sudden passing of Lloyd ("Buck") Pierce, on the evening of Thursday, January 13, 1983, as a result of a fall from the steamer SPRUCEGLEN at Goderich. After ending his active sailing career as first mate of PIC RIVER back in 1968, Mr. Pierce maintained his connections with the shipping industry. Employed by P & H Shipping, he was serving as shipkeeper on SPRUCEGLEN at the time of his death. Well known, knowledgeable and respected, Mr. Pierce was actively involved with the Goderich Marine Museum and had recently joined T.M.H.S. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family.
