The coming of the New Year is a good time for us to express thanks to the many members who have been such regular correspondents during 1982, keeping us supplied with items of marine news, etc. Without such welcome assistance we could not produce our newsletter, and we want you to know how much we appreciate your help, even if we do not have time to respond personally to each letter. We look forward to receiving your continued support in 1983.

LAY-UP LISTS: With this issue, we begin our annual report on the ships wintering at various lake ports. You can assist by visiting local ports and sending us your list of the boats laid up there. Please let us hear from you as soon as possible so that we may prepare this historical record.

In the New Member Department, a hearty welcome goes out to Capt. George Wheeler and to Orla Morphet, both of St. Catharines, to Capt. Louis Kiell of Kingston, to Capt. Larry Leveille of Welland, to Clement Desjardins, Stanley Meriam and Lloyd Pierce, all of Goderich, to Gilles Dontigny of Montreal, to H. Ken Maxwell of Toronto, and to Fred A. Wagar of Wyandotte, Michigan. We also welcome back those who have recently renewed their memberships .
