- 1 Superior, told of his journey from Penetang to Sault Ste. Marie aboard the steamboat GORE, which was formerly in
- 2 the St. Mary's River about 20 miles below the Soo. She passed the steam barge HAVANA, upbound, but
- 3 for Cleveland, Amherstburg, Windsor, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie, Prince Arthur's Landing and Duluth. The steamer
- 4 aboard his command, the propeller ST. MAGNUS, at Sault Ste. Marie. Capt. Burrows had come out from Ireland as a
- 5 seas all the way down Lake Superior. She left Sault Ste. Marie on the morning of 23 Oct., in heavy snow and high
- 6 week. On the 11 November, we left for the Soo on a fish-tug that came for the fishermen and we
- 7 respectively. The ST. MAGNUS was detained at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. over some Customs difficulty. The schooner
- 8 this season, had some trouble on the 11 May. Soon after leaving Toronto, the engineer found that
- 9 in two Scotch Marine boilers 13'0" x 9'0". Soon after entering Lake service, she was acquired by
- 10 up on a sandy beach. Two tugs were sent from the Soo, but still had not reached the scene on 15

- 12 was now homeward bound and was expected at the Soo on 1 December. There was a possibility that she
- 13 new lock in the St. Mary's River at Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was given a trial work-out on Saturday, 7
- 14 Government had just completed a huge look at the Soo with an available depth of only 16
- 15 the City. MacKays had received a telegram from Sault Ste. Marie, telling of the loss of the ACADIA. All hands
- 16 and the SIR S. L. TILLEY was downbound between Sault Ste. Marie and
