Longtime T.M.H.S. member Gordon Wendt of Sandusky is an acknowledged expert on the ships of western Lake Erie who delights in sharing that knowledge with others. In 1984, he produced In The Wake of the Walk-In-The-Water, a detailed history of many vessels that have frequented the Sandusky area. Now he has written Strangers In Our Bay, a 23-page softcover "mini-book",in which Gordon mentions the appearance on Sandusky Bay of craft such as the convict ship SUCCESS, U.S.S. WOLVERINE towing Perry's flagship NIAGARA, the Columbus Caravels, and U.S.S. WILMINGTON. Also mentioned are some of the more familiar ships of the area, such as PUT-IN-BAY, CHIPPEWA and GOODTIME. But the best part of this little book is that Gordon has donated all profits from its sale to "Friends of the BOECKLING", the organization attempting to restore the former Sandusky - Cedar Point ferry steamer G. A. BOECKLING.

The price is $6.00 (U.S. Funds) including shipping, and the book may be ordered from Friends of the Boeckling, P.O. Box 736, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
