In recent years, a concentrated effort has arisen to preserve memories of the famous passenger steamer PUT-IN-BAY, which plied the waters of western Lake Erie for four decades. On October 2, 1981, the 28th anniversary of the intentional burning of the steamer on Lake St. Clair, an organization called "The Steamer PUT-IN-BAY Appreciation Society" was founded by T.M.H.S. member Andy Sykora. Anyone may join and there are no annual dues other than the "dues of respect" that can be given to a fine steamer through contributions of remembrances. Artifacts of PUT-IN-BAY are sought, and photographs that will be shared will be returned to their owners with recognition accorded to all in a publication to be produced which will cover the life of the historic vessel.

Interested parties should address Mr. T. A. Sykora, 2589 Gasser Boulevard, Rocky River, Ohio 44116, U.S.A.
