LAKE WINNIPEG wintering above Lock 8. Some changes have been made to her stack. Granted she isn't the most beautiful laker in that her bridge seems to lack something, and that T2 stack with a cowl at the the top, doesn't help. The cowl has been removed and a fin has been substituted along the lines of the FRANCE. Well, seeing is believing ..... .. so if you see the FRANCE coming out of Lock 1, don't faint, as it will in all probability be the LAKE WINNIPEG up bound with ore and not on a Carribean cruise with tourists.

MONTREALAIS - Guess the owners of this ship have had people write and want to know why they don't advertize their name. Consequently, this is precisely what they have done... hired a painter who has been busy painting PAPACHRISTIDIS CO. LTD. down the side of the hull in large block letters similar to their new ship completed last summer at Collingwood, the FEUX FOLLETS. It is likely the rest of the fleet will get the some paint job.

The veteran Toronto Harbour tug, G. R. GEARY, is being demolished in the Metro Toronto Marine yard at the foot of Reis Street.

The laker, JAMES DAVIDSON, owned by Tomilson Fleet Corp. of Cleveland and under charter for the past several seasons to Buckeye S. S. Co., Cleveland, will operate this year under charter to Columbia Steamship Co., also of Cleveland.
