What can we say about the February meeting? Friday, February 7th, was an absolutely horrible day in the western Lake Ontario area, with very high winds and heavy snow. With local roads either jammed with traffic or impassable, we had no alternative but to cancel our meeting at the last moment, as the members we canvassed had no desire to venture out into such conditions. We attempted to notify as many members as possible. We sincerely regret any inconvenience that the cancellation may have caused to any of our members and we hope that all will realize that our decision was made in the interest of the safety and well-being of all of our T.M.H.S. family.

THE APRIL MEETING will be held in the Niagara Peninsula by way of expressing thanks to our Niagara members for their continued strong support of our Society . A change in date, from Friday to Saturday, has been necessary in order that Toronto members may drive to the meeting without being delayed for hours in rush-hour traffic jams, and this has also resulted in a move to different premises for the gathering. It will be held at 8:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Clairmont and Ormond Streets, Thorold. It is two blocks due west of the Lock 7 Motel, at the first stop light, with an Esso station on one corner and the church on another. Adequate parking is available at several nearby businesses and also in a municipal parking lot. We hope that many of our Toronto and Niagara members will plan to attend.

THE ANNUAL DINNER MEETING will be held at the Ship Inn, in the Museum, on Saturday, May 10th. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m., and the bar will be open earlier for those wishing a restorative before dinner. Our Speaker for the occasion will be Lorne S. Joyce, who will delve into his collection and present a fun evening of memories of ships which have been featured in the pages of "Scanner". Knowing Lome as we do, we can be assured of a delightful programme, and we hope that many members will plan to attend. The cost of the dinner will be $18.00 per person (the same as last year), and guests will be welcome. Please send your early remittance to our Chief Purser, William R. Wilson, 173 Glenrose Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4T 1K7. Tickets will be held at the door for all those who have reserved.

Please Note: The capacity of the restaurant is limited, and we have a deadline for confirming the number that will attend. All reservations, accompanied by payment, must be received no later than Tuesday, May 6th. We regret that there can be no refunds after that date, and that tickets will not be sold at the door. Please reserve early to ensure that space will be held for you and your party.

In the New Member Department, we offer a word of regret for having misspelled the name of Capt. C. E. Armstrong, of Midland, in our last issue.
