The following article has appeared in various lengths in a number of publications around the Great Lakes. Recently it was reprinted in FreshWater, v. 5, no. 1, pp. 16-19. This article was first published in the Bethel Magazine in January 1836. It was reprinted by the Buffalo Spectator, and from it to a succession of newspapers around the lakes. This transcription is based on a couple of quoted copies, the Black Rock Advocate of 31 March 1836 and an Upper Canadian newspaper.
