It is with regret that we report the death, on January 8, 1985, of Capt. D'Alton Hudson, of Midland, Ontario, in his 89th year.

Capt. Hudson was one of the founders of the North West Transportation Company Ltd., Midland, which later became known as Northwest Steamships Ltd., Toronto. The firm operated package freighters from 1929 until the early 1960s, and Capt. Hudson served as master of all three of the line's steamers, GEORGIAN, SUPERIOR and A. A. HUDSON. He retired from the shipping business after the fleet ceased operations.

Capt. Hudson was a member of the Toronto Marine Historical Society for many years. We express to his family our deepest sympathy on his passing.
