We must also record the passing on Thursday, April 30, of Capt. John Hartley of St. Catharines, master of the P & H Shipping steamer WILLOWGLEN. Capt. Hartley became ill aboard ship, was removed ashore, and died in Grace Hospital at Windsor. He was 6l years of age.

Jack Hartley had been on the lakes for 42 years, beginning his career on the old Beaconsfield "Red Barges" and then moving over to the Misener fleet. He then served the Soo River Company and, on its dissolution, joined P & H Shipping, commanding several of this fleet's steamers. We express our deepest sympathy to his large family, and particularly to his son and T.M.H.S. member, Rob, of St. Catharines.
